This page is
designed to allow for easy searches for information by groups with
special interests. Simply by clicking on a selection in the left
column, you will have access to numerous but related choices in
locating helpful information.
SWCDs have
numerous responsibilities but one of the most important is
providing information, resources, demonstrations, and assistance
to property owners on subjects related to the conservation of
natural resources with specific interest in soil. Water, forestry,
and wildlife.
Partnerships
with other governmental agencies including local government are a
key part of locally directed programs. By working with a local
SWCD, direct assistance can be made available from the Virginia
Departments of Environmental Conservation, Environmental Quality,
Forestry, Game and Inland Fisheries, Agriculture and Consumer
Services and from the Natural Resource Conservation Service of
USDA, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the National Park Service
and the Cooperative Extension Service.
Partnerships
with local government also play a key role in providing helpful
information to local property owners, to teachers and students in
local school systems, to agricultural and commercial interests, as
well as to suburban homeowners in need of special technical
assistance.
